Jimmy’s Community Pavilion project

Type:  Community
Budget:  R8M
Location: Rosebud, Victoria, Australia
*undertaken as Project Architect for CO-OP Studio – Australia

This community pavilion, developed by a charity organisation, aims to reduce youth self-harm in the Mornington peninsula of Victoria, Australia. The building serves to create an alternative and safe space for youth to hang out, speak to a professional, engage in activities, and even spend an evening with dorm-type bedrooms available.

The building is set back quite generously from the street to encourage a feeling of tranquillity from the busy world. A feature timber facade graces the front of the building with curves and angles in an effort to represent the natural curves found in nature. A central courtyard separates the public and private areas of the building and allows for a calm central garden where the youth can spend time alone or with friends.
